The computer lab is now at Blair Christian Academy @ 220 W Upsal St.
All the MALT computer classes will be held at this Upsal St. location.
Please also note that the Ex offender and other low cost grant sustained classes have been postponed until further notice due to lack of funding. For this same reason MACCC no longer has its’ own director. Please refer any questions to the MALT staff. As the budget permits MALT will continue to host limited free computer technology trainings for our community. You will find additional information about these classes here when available.
The Mt Airy Community Computer Center (MACCC) was launched by a group of committed community volunteers in 1999. MACCC is a human service organization of the Mt Airy Community Services Corporation, a 501(c)(3) organization which since 1978 has made charitable, educational and social welfare services available to Northwest Philadelphia. From its inception, MACCC has understood its mission of closing the digital divide between advantaged and disadvantaged citizens as an issue of social justice. For adults to be literate participating members of the community, they must have Internet access and the technological skills needed to compete for jobs, apply for benefits and financial aid, manage online accounts, obtain consumer, market and political information and to perform a range of everyday tasks that are increasingly dependent on knowledge of and facility with computer technology.
MACCC will take donations of CRT monitors of 15 inches or larger, Pentium III, IV or higher CPUs or laptops that are not older than 4 years old. We refurbish your donations for disadvantaged individuals in Mt. Airy and Germantown primarily, but to install today's software on them, they have to be this specification or we would have to recycle them just like you will have to recycle them. If we take your donation, you will need to bring it to the CVG space in the Summit Presbyterian Church at Greene and Westview. Call the MACCC office at 215-848-0658 and leave a message or email us at MACCC to arrange to drop off your donation. We cannot pick up. MACCC does issue donation letters you can use for your tax return.
Here's where to take your donation if we can't use it:
